What is the WHO?
The World Health Organization (WHO) tracks and manages pandemics. [1] The WHO organizes and coordinates the world’s response to global disease. [2] Despite what you may have heard (from Trump), the WHO doesn’t play favorites. The advice and guidance from the WHO are even-handed. That means that they aren’t going to hide the data which proves the obvious- America’s response has been a complete disaster.
Here is what happened- no more global pandemic response
When it became obvious that the President had no idea what he was doing with COVID-19, Trump realized that his re-election was in jeopardy. [3] That doesn’t mean that he tried to fix his mistakes. Instead, as he has always done, he tears down the people and institutions that make him look bad. [4] [5] Trump not only ‘defunded it’’, but he also cut our ties with it. He ruined the world organization responsible for handling pandemics during a pandemic!!!!
The result
Our nation’s response is a disgrace. Europe and many countries won’t even let Americans visit because of how our Trump has handled COVID-19. [7] [8] [9]
It’s horrifying that an American President, ‘the leader of the free world,” killed the organization in charge of blunting pandemics during a pandemic. It is an evil thing to do. And he did it to take revenge and hide the organization that creates data that he doesn’t like.
Devastating the WHO may not make an immediate difference in American’s lives. We are too confused and distracted with what is happening on our doorsteps to benefit much from a global perspective. However, in the years to come, many thousands, if not millions of Americans, and whole nations of poor people will needlessly die because of Trump’s self-absorption. And if you follow the guidance from our own military experts, instability in the world, from whatever cause, puts America in danger. [10]
Don’t lose heart- America will once again come first
Assuming that there still is a future for our nation, a new American President will again put America first. That means that our country will one day respond to pandemics as we should. We will rejoin the WHO and support it. How soon will depend a lot on how much people know about
